Held at Love of Christ Church, St. Cloud, MN

Paul called meeting to order at 4:49 pm. and Pr Tom opened with prayer.
Pr Tom’s Report – The Gideon’s offering from their presentation was $272. Pr Tom also reviewed with us on how he spends his hours each week and is looking for input from the council as to where and how much time we want him to spend in any given area. The Roman’s Bible study for the 26th is completed and the stewardship packets have been distributed. We also need to take a look at increasing the size of the church council from six to nine members.
The December tithe is $1580, and was dispersed as follows: $395 to ILT, $785 locally to Place of Hope Ministry, $200 nationally to the Christian Appalachian Project, and $200 internationally to LWR – Horn of Africa. The Building Fund through Dec. 29, 2011 is $54,415.
The Boy Scout building is available for our 7 pm Lenten Worship services for Feb. 22nd Ash Wednesday, April 5th Maundy Thursday, And April 6th Good Friday; Worship branch meets again Feb. 7th at 6:30; we will begin using bulletin inserts (at no cost) with scripture for that Sunday, so people can also follow along on that.
The Education Branch will meet again in February to discuss plans for VBS, look at various community activities to see which ones to get involved in. The EVS Children’s Bibles will be distributed in February. Greg has done as much work on our web page as he can, and now we need to find someone who can take it to completion. If you know of someone (high school or college student) or anyone else, please let him know.
We began discussion on when to increase Pr Tom’s time and compensation at Abounding Joy. Currently he was budgeted for 45% of his time with us and 55% at Holy Cross. We will be entering into discussion with their council as to what would be best for both churches.
The Visioning session with our parishioners was just great. A lot of ideas, visions and dreams came out of that session, and we look forward to our exciting journey ahead.
The Global Mission Festival is scheduled at the Boy Scout Building for January 21 and since we have the space rented for the day, we plan to have “game-night” here that evening.
If anyone has investments in Thrivent you have to contact your representative to designate where you want your choice dollars to go. If you don’t, then Thrivent can grant those dollars where they want them to go.
Our next council meeting is scheduled for February 21st at 4:45 pm at Love of Christ Church! Meeting adjourned with the Lord’s Prayer.
Dale Hellickson, Council Secretary.
